Mosaic Law is not Abolished

Biblical Truths – Michael@Okulski.org

Yeshua (Jesus) taught extensively about various attributes needed for us to claim our inheritance for The Kingdom of Heaven. In one of these teachings He states unequivocally that He did not come to abolish the Law.1 It is as if He knew that the leaders of His Church would one day teach that the Law given to Israel through the Prophet Moses had been abolished and replaced with a new Law.

We all know that when Yeshua says something once in the Bible that a remnant who are continuously learning to increase their love and obedience of Gods’ commandments and His Voice2 take notice. But when Jesus says the same thing twice in a row, we add an additional measure of intensity to what He is saying.

In this teaching Yeshua indeed repeats Himself in the very next verse where He states that the Law given through The Prophet Moses would remain in effect as long as the current heavens and earth still exist.3 Has heaven and earth passed away? If not then Mosaic Law is certainly still valid and authoritative according to Yeshua.

Yeshua apparently found this point so important for His Church to understand, He states the same thought a third time when He says that if anyone does not obey the Law and teaches others not to obey it (Him) that they would be least in the Kingdom compared to the greatness of those who did obey and teach others to do the same.4

Yeshua states the exact same thought in three different statements from three different angles, almost in the same breath. Yeshua unequivocally states that the Law is not old, it has not been abolished and that it should still be obeyed.

Just a thought… Praise Yah!

1 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish … (Mt 5:17a)

2 if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. (Ex 19:5-6)

3 For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. (Mt 5:18)

4 Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (Mt 5:19)
