Commanded to Love. When asked, “What is the greatest commandment?” Yeshua (Jesus) responded as God spoke through the prophet Moses, as it is written, “You shall love The LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your might” Deut 6:5. With the worlds perception of love, is it possible for someone to really “command” someone else to love?
Heart and Soul of The Law. The God of Israel instructs His children to walk in His ways with both heart and soul. The heart and soul must be one.
Who is Israel? God’s greatest commandment was given through His servant Moses, as it is written, “Hear O Israel: The LORD is your God, The LORD is one. And you shall love The LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength” Deut 6:4-5. In this, a question arises, Who is Moses talking to?
The Fulfillment of The Law If one is to understand the complete context of the greatest commandment, one must continue for several more verses where God further explains how we are to love Him with our heart and soul.
The Remnant and The Law In the days past, the children of Israel turned away from Gods’ commandments. They called His covenant, His testament, His Law “old.” Some turned to other gods. Some decided to worship the One True God using their own traditions.
