This was Icing’s last campsite. At this point her body had become riddled with fatty tumors. She was so weak she could barely walk and would fall backwards into her own stool. I held her in my arms as she drew her last breath at the Vet’s office. I have never known such deep sorrow. I buried her in an unmarked grave among the trees that lined the Rio Grande directly behind the campsite.
